Virtual visits of museums (VISITOR)

VISITOR (VIrtual muSeums In The cOvid eRa) was a European collective project (2021-2023) funded under the framework of the Erasmus+ programme.

The first idea of the project  was to deal with the prohibition of cultural visits to museums and other culture and science exhibition areas during the Covid- 19 travel restrictions. The solution invented at that time was to integrate digitally in the school curricula digital simulations of museums as alternatives to onsite visits when geographical constraints or sanitary restrictions restricts or even prohibits on site cultural visits to museums and other culture and science exhibition areas

Tools

The purpose of the project is to foster students’ cultural awareness through a virtual educational process.

The objective is to fill in this gap through the effective use of:

a) a digital museum exhibits content aggregator and toolkit,

b) a digital application for virtual tours, exemplar use cases including citizen science and related resources

c) the appropriate training for the school community in order to unite the digital material made openly available by museums and virtual tours providing an Education and Entertainment solution (Edutainment) to school teachers to design novel structured learning experiences.

July 6th - 8th 2022 Transnational meeting of the VISITOR project This first face to face meeting of the VISITOR project took place in Mons from July 6th to 8th (Belgium); It was organized by Logopsycom (Belgium).
		March 2nd 2021 : Kickoff meeting of the VISITOR project. The meeting was organized online due to the European sanitary conditions.
